Focus Awards

The Focus Awards are held annually and this year we celebrated the 4th edition of the awards.

The images submitted were judged by a panel of experienced leaders in landscape photography, including Peter Eastway, Jacqui Dean and Dylan Toh.

1- Luke Tscharke

For the Focus awards 2015, we  presented awards in 7 categories.

Below are the categories and their descriptions.

Please Note : 

Images may be real or interpretative (that is, they need not be literal images of a scene).

Composite and non-composite images are acceptable (that is, stitching and blending are accepted).

Entries may include a human and/or animal as a minor element, but they must be in keeping with the overall interests of FOCUS (that is, seascapes and landscapes).

 

Landscape

  • Images must depict the natural or human/urban environment, and may include rivers or closed bodies of predominantly fresh water.

Seascape

  • Images must include as a major element any large open body of salt water

Panorama

  • Images must have an aspect ratio of 2:1 or wider, and be taken using a panoramic film camera or multiple stitched digital images
  • No single frame cropped images
  • The Awards Team reserve the right to request the RAW file(s) and /or disqualify images that do not conform.

Black and White

  • Images must be Black and White
  • Monotone and tints/tones are allowed, however, overuse may have points deducted
  • No selective colour images accepted

Cityscape

  • Images must include city scenes and/or human/urban landscapes
  • Images may include natural elements

  • Images depicting a sunset or sunrise scene
  • Images to be presented in colour only
  • No black and white, mono or selective colour accepted

**New* Creative

  • Images should be highly creative in technique and/or appearance
  • Diptychs and triptychs accepted
  • This is your chance to GO WILD! Show the judges your creative flair

Second placegetters in each of the 7 categories will receive a Peter Eastway Better Photography Landscape MasterClass DVD.
Third place getters in each of the 7 categories will receive a $50 Camera House Voucher and a Focus Cap.

Each of the 3 placegetters (first, second and third) in each category will receive a trophy and a certificate.

In addition, an Awards Sub-Committee Encouragement Award will be given in each category to an entry that is NON-AWARDED (that is, has scored under 75). These entries will be selected by the Awards Sub-Committee and decided on by the Chairman, Adam Williams. Each encouragement award will receive an Adam Williams’ Easy Way Photography Photoshop Course (of the winner’s choice).
