DESCRIPTION:Location Information\nLocation features: Bare Island is home to a 19th Century Fort that was built to protect our shores\, and is situated in Sydney’s southern suburb of La Parouse. A photogenic feature is the 130 year old wooden bridge leading to the island. Access to the island is via this bridge though the island is not open until 7am for those who want to venture into. Additionally\, there is the Macquarie Watchtower situated on the knoll as you walk from the carpark to the island. \nHazards/Dangers: There are flat rocky outcrops so be mindful of rock holes and possible slippery algae. \nFitness requirements: Flat easy walking\, no ironman/woman prerequisites required. \nAdditional safety equipment required: If venturing out onto the rocks\, appropriate rock shoes &/or cleats would be best advised. It’s a rising tide but the swell is only 1.2m\, so conditions at this location should be fairly gentle. \nHazards/Dangers : Take care on the rock shelf and when crossing gullies. Black moss on some rocks is very slippery. \nFitness requirements? : Allow a 10-minute walk along the northern end of the beach to reach the rockshelf. DESCRIPTION:Location Information \n  \nSpring is in the air so it is a great opportunity to stretch the legs and the imagination with a gingerly walk around some of the Sydney’s cultural icons. \nWe will start at the decadent QVB Building\, then stroll past Sydney Town Hall and head to St Mary’s Cathedral via Anzac Memorial and Hyde Park. \nIt is an easy walk\, though you are encouraged to wear safe and comfortable foot wear. Bring water\, sunscream and comfortable clothing to walk in. DESCRIPTION:Location Information\nLocation features: Reef exposed at low tide with scatted boulders. Some surf action at the far tip and southern side of the reef. Reverse sunrise and reflections looking back westwards to the headland. Good views also from the top of the headland itself. \nHazards/Dangers: Some pools and potholes in the rockshelf to watch out for. \nFitness requirements: It’s a 15-minute walk from the carpark to the the top of the headland\, down a steep track and out onto the reef. SUMMARY:Southies Shoot - Sharky Beach (South end) - Saturday 15th October with Murray Barnes
DESCRIPTION:Location Information \nLocation features: The shoot is a new location\, made possible by the prevailing La Nina weather pattern; sand-flats that are not often safe or accessible\, with exposed rocky outcrops. Best access is from the Southern end of Sharky Beach car-park\, with a 5 min walk down the beach. Flow images\, coastal photography with the world’s prettiest Escarpment above us\, waves & rock-shelf images. \nNOTE: The alternate access from the carpark at Headlands (Brickyard Pt) will be tricky in the dark\, with broken waves expected across a slippery rock shelf. Too dangerous in the dark. \nHazards/Dangers: Rogue waves\, dogs not on leashes. Once rigged up\, keep your gear on your back. This area is exposed\, with rapidly changing conditions. Broken waves will come through the sand flats. The rock outcrops themselves may not be accessible. \nFitness requirements: normal mobility requirements on wave-swept sandy areas. \nAdditional safety equipment required: Rock shoes or cleats will be required.
