2019 FOCUS AWARDS – WINNERS ANNOUNCED

Winners of the 2019 Focus Awards competition were announced at the Focus Awards Night Dinner held at Dee Why RSL on Saturday 9th November 2019.

Jannick Clausen, an AIPP Master of Photography from Brisbane, won Image of The Year In the Open competition. His prizes include a 40” acrylic facemeount print from Created For Life and the latest Sony A7R IV camera from Sony Australia.

Graeme Gordon won Photographer of The Year 2019. This is decided by averaging each photographer’s highest score across all six categories of the Amateur Awards. His prizes included a 40” acrylic facemount print from Created For Life and the Nikon Z7 camera from Nikon Australia.

Runners–up in Photographer Of The Year were Timothy Moon in 2nd place, and Santosh Mitra in 3rd.

Winners in each of the six Amateur Awards categories were :

Urban Landscape             –              Graeme Gordon

Seascape                             –              Alan Park

Black & White                    –              Christine Rocher

Sunrise / Sunset               –              Michael Stringer

Creative                               –              Grant Galbraith

John Armytage, Executive Chairman of the Focus Group said : “with over 2,100 entires in the 2019 competition, it was another very strong field. The winners deserve our congratulations for producing some exceptional examples of photographic art.”

Contestants are able to view their own scores by logging into their account on the Focus Awards website : https://comp.focusphotographers.org/.

Bronze, Silver and Gold Certificates are available to download for images that achieved the requisite scores. Focus Members often like to share these Certificates on their own website or via social media, to celebrate their success.

Each image also receives a comment from the Head Judge, designed to encourage the photographer, by pointing out areas in which the image might be improved. This is a distinctive feature of the Focus Awards competition and helps to ensure its popularity among a growing community of enthusiastic amateur landscape and seascape photographers.
