Location Information
Location features: The shoot is a new location, made possible by the prevailing La Nina weather pattern; sand-flats that are not often safe or accessible, with exposed rocky outcrops. Best access is from the Southern end of Sharky Beach car-park, with a 5 min walk down the beach. Flow images, coastal photography with the world’s prettiest Escarpment above us, waves & rock-shelf images.
NOTE: The alternate access from the carpark at Headlands (Brickyard Pt) will be tricky in the dark, with broken waves expected across a slippery rock shelf. Too dangerous in the dark.
Hazards/Dangers: Rogue waves, dogs not on leashes. Once rigged up, keep your gear on your back. This area is exposed, with rapidly changing conditions. Broken waves will come through the sand flats. The rock outcrops themselves may not be accessible.
Fitness requirements: normal mobility requirements on wave-swept sandy areas.
Additional safety equipment required: Rock shoes or cleats will be required. Expect a `wet-feet’ shoot. Torch, shower-proof shell.
