NORTH SHOOT – Saturday 18th February at Mona Vale Pool with SONY Australia and Thom Wheeler

February 18, 2023 @ 5:45 am - 7:30 am

Today we will be joined by Focus Sponsor, SONY Australia, who will bring a range of cameras and lenses for you to try, including the new SONY A7RV high performance mirrorless camera. Aris Suwirto from Spectrum Camera House, Brookvale, will also be on hand to offer some exclusive discounted prices. There will be additional opportunities to handle the cameras and lenses over breakfast after the shoot.

Location Information

Location features: Mona Vale Pool close to high tide offers a dramatic subject, from a safe distance as well as close up, with the surf flowing over and around the pool.

Hazards/Dangers:

  • The viewing area above the beach offers plenty of room to move around, or you can go down onto the beach to get closer to the surf.
  • There is a gazebo for shelter in case it rains.
  • There is also a reef on the other side of the pool, however PLEASE NOTE,  with this tide predicted it will probably be inaccessible.
  • On an in-coming tide there is a rip that flows around the pool which could knock you off your feet, so always watch the surf.

Fitness requirement: It’s a short walk from the car park / viewing area down to the pool.

Additional safety equipment required: If you are planning on getting closer to the pool, be prepared to get wet feet.
