Location features : Beach, plus a rising rockshelf with gullies. At this tide there should be some flow through the gullies.
Hazards/Dangers : It’s just off a high tide with a moderate swell, so keep an eye on the surf. We need to step, and sometimes jump over the gullies to get further up the rockshelf. The rockshelf has patches of black moss, which is very slippery.
Fitness requirements? : It’s a 10-minute walk from the end of the car park, along the beach to reach the rockshelf, so we’ll set off before first light.
Additional safety equipment required : Bring a torch and wear rock shoes if you are going onto the rockshelf.
