SYDNEY WEST SUNSET SHOOT – Saturday 22nd July at Govetts Leap Lookout, Blackheath with Thom Wheeler

Location Information

Location features: Fenced Lookouts. Main Gavottes Leap lookout at carpark, George Phillip Lookout about 400 mtrs north, and Bridal Veil Falls & Barrow Lookout about 700 mtrs to the south. Views of the valley towards the north with large east and west facing cliff faces.

Hazards/Dangers: Some rough paths adjacent to and leading away from the lookout. It is a popular tourist spot so be prepared for the possibility of others taking in the view and the experience.

Fitness requirements: It’s a very, very short walk from the carpark to the main lookout. Defibrillators shouldn’t be necessary.

Additional safety equipment required: For some it may not feel like it, BUT it is winter so it will be a tad chilly. Be sure to bring and wear appropriate warm clothing. Boots or sturdy shoes also strongly encouraged.

Meeting place: Govetts Leap Carpark, at the end of Govetts Leap Road

Meeting time: 4pm

This time should provide ample time to find a vantage spot as there’s a few lookouts to chose from. Also when the sun starts to set it will do so quickly.

As most cafes will be closed, please bring own coffee, drinks, snacks/food. There is the famous Blackheath Fish Shop to call upon if so desired after the shoot on your way home to the darkroom.
