What inspired you to attend the trip?
I was searching through the trips that are available on the Focus website and came across Callie’s trip. I then saw the amazing award-winning photos she had taken in Xiapu and thought I must visit this place!
Can you tell us a bit about the trip?
The trip was 4 days, we were based in Xiapu and with the assistance of Callie & her driver, she has known for years we visited about 12 sites over these 4 days. There was quite a lot of variation over this time with most places quite dependant on the extreme tides that are a large part of the charm. We visited spots that included the fish / crab traps, seaweed farming, the Buffalo man with some great vantage points such as with the ‘S’ Bend bamboo poles and fish ponds.
What was the highlight of the trip?
The fish / crab traps & the ‘S’ bend bamboo poles.
Can you tell us one thing you learnt on the trip?
Be prepared for rain and hope for the best, in saying that we were very lucky.
Do you have any recommendations for any other Focus members considering this trip in the future?
Callie 2020 trip to Xiapu is booking out so if you want to go do not hesitate and also try and add another of her trips to this to make a 10-day trip.
What is your favourite photo from the trip?
The fish / crab traps & the ‘S’ bend bamboo poles.
