The Focus Committee has reluctantly decided to cancel the 2021 Focus Awards competition.
A good deal of work had already been done to re-launch the Focus Awards in September this year. However, the extended lockdowns in NSW and elsewhere deny Members the opportunity to enjoy landscape photography and have caused our Sponsors to endure serious business downturns.
The Committee did consider hosting an online-only competition, given the difficulty planning an Awards Night event with so much uncertainty on when restrictions can be lifted.However, the Committee determined that to maintain the differentiating characteristics of the Focus Awards, to offer Members a chance to participate in a vibrant competition and to continue to show support for Focus Sponsors – whose contributions to the prize pool have helped to make previous Focus Awards competitions so successful – all point to the benefits of delaying until 2022.
The Focus Committee will start to plan the 2022 Focus Awards competition immediately, to ensure it is, once again, one of the most popular landscape photography competitions in Australia.
